As principal of The Heiserman Group, Herb builds client relationships by providing value-added services and he works to ensure that our firm delivers quality designs and exemplary service.
Herb has built his father’s firm into a nationally recognized leader in retail roll-out and development. He develops business opportunities and tailors project delivery approaches to meet the specific business needs of our clients. Herb has fostered successful, repetitive on-call relationships with clients such as Hair Cuttery, TD Ameritrade, Starbucks and Sodexho-Marriott.
Herb’s architectural background and decades of interiors and base building experience provides him with a comprehensive understanding of the design and construction process, enabling him to structure effective relationships with THG’s expanding national clients.
Herb earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Maryland and he is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
Kathryn started with The Heiserman Group in 1991 and was promoted to Studio Director in 2005, directing and managing project workflow for a variety of clients. Her focus is tenant retail design, but she has experience with many project types, ranging from corporate office interiors to base building architecture. Kathryn has designed and managed production of hundreds of Hair Cuttery salons, TD Waterhouse/Ameritrade trading branches and Panera Bread restaurants.
Prior to joining THG, Kathryn worked for an architecture firm in Philadelphia, where she served as the project architect for the design and construction of 30 Ann Taylor stores.
Kathryn earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a current member of the Maryland Suburban chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women, Inc.
Leonard joined The Heiserman Group in 2006 to direct and manage projects and to guide the firm as it expands. He has more than 35 years of professional experience and specializes in high-end office, commercial and interior architecture.
His extensive work in the area of corporate design has led to numerous project awards. At THG, Leonard’s portfolio includes design work for clients such as Amalgamated Transit Union, Lerner Enterprises, Sport & Health fitness clubs and Vapiano restaurants.
During his career, Leonard has worked for prestigious national and international design firms. As a Principal at AI for 17 years, Leonard helped transform the small interior space planning business in Washington, D.C. into a nationally recognized architecture/engineering firm, with offices in Richmond, Va., San Francisco and Connecticut. Leonard co-directed the firm’s Interiors Studio, where he managed projects and a 40-person staff.
His past clients include Pepco, Capital One, Freddie Mac, George Washington University, Marriott and Boeing.
Leonard is a member of the American Institute of Architects, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, District of Columbia Building Industry Association and National Building Museum.
He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Texas A&M University.
William provides construction documentation and administration services to our clients. He knows how to get projects built and strives for perfection by tapping into more than three decades of professional experience in design, architecture, interiors and graphics. William has worked with retail, restaurant and other clients at The Heiserman Group, including Staples, Blackfinn Saloon, Mamma Lucia restaurants, and Sport & Health fitness clubs.
Previously, he worked for two Washington, D.C.-based and two international architecture firms. During his career with those firms, he worked for clients such as U.S. News & World Report, the U.S. Coast Guard, America Online and Alliance Bank.
Bonnie manages the firm’s accounts and payroll and handles human resources matters. Prior to joining The Heiserman Group in 2000, she managed a medical office in suburban Maryland for 20 years. In her spare time, Bonnie serves as the volunteer treasurer for the Olney Mill Swim Club in Olney, Md.
A recent addition to the firm, Cristiane specializes in interior design and helps clients such as TD Ameritrade and Yves Delorme achieve their design goals. Before joining The Heiserman Group, she completed internships in architecture and construction management at Washington, D.C. area companies.
Cristiane earned a Bachelor of Architecture and Urban Planning from the State University of Maranhao, in Sao Luis, Brazil, and currently is studying construction management. In her spare time, Cristiane volunteers at the National Building Museum, in Washington, D.C.
Darius has 12 years of experience as an architect. During that time, he has coordinated, designed, managed and planned a variety of projects around the country. He joined The Heiserman Group in 2000 after working with several firms in the Washington, D.C. area. Darius brings efficiency and thoroughness to our client projects and he has a great understanding of building codes.
At THG, Darius has helped clients such as Five Guys, Capitol Grounds Coffee, Sport & Health fitness clubs and Ouidad Hair Salon achieve their goals by providing design, document preparation, management and contract administration services.
Darius earned a Bachelor of Science in architecture from The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C., and he is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
With The Heiserman Group for over three years, Hugo specializes in design for commercial retail establishments and restaurant development. He brings great energy and reliability to many different types of projects. At THG, he has performed work for clients such as Blockbuster, Courtyard by Marriott, Jerry’s Seafood restaurant, Quiznos and TGI Friday’s.
Hugo earned a Bachelor of Science in architecture and a Master of Architecture from The Catholic University of America, and he currently serves as a Visiting Critic for the university’s School of Architecture and Planning.
Juan, who recently joined the firm, takes pride in providing interior design drafting services to retail, financial services and other clients. He provides great support to the architecture staff and his portfolio includes drafting work for Hair Cuttery salons, TD Ameritrade, Marvelous Market and Tuscarora Mill restaurant.
Juan earned an associate degree in computer drafting in 2000. Before becoming a draftsman, he helped manage a tutoring program for K-12 students.
Jessica joined The Heiserman Group in 2007 and provides interior design services to our restaurant, retail and other clients. She brings creativity and interior design background to many different project types, including offices and salons. She has performed design work for Buffalo Wing Factory & Pub, Paul Mitchell Salon, Marvelous Market and Five Guys restaurants.
Previously, she served as a resource librarian and junior designer at a Washington, D.C.-based architecture firm. Jessica earned a Bachelor of Arts in interior design from Marymount University, in Arlington, Va.
Trained as an architect in Brazil, Monica brings nearly two decades of professional experience to The Heiserman Group. Her resourcefulness and strong skills in design, production and construction help clients meet their design goals. She has provided design services to THG clients such as City Sports, Mayorga Coffee Roasters, Penn Camera and Vapiano restaurants.
Previously, she worked on new urbanism and renovation projects in Rio de Janeiro, including one which earned an award from the Rio-Cidade contest in 1990.
Before beginning her professional career, Monica earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture and urbanism. She specializes in environmental management.
Rhena has more than a decade of professional experience and specializes in design and medical planning. She brings exceptional skills to all aspects of space planning and design development and offers clients unique solutions using her ability to envision the final space. At The Heiserman Group, she has provided design services to clients such as Encore Construction corporate offices, the retail store Hip Hop, Marvelous Market and Amalgamated Transit Union.
Before joining THG, she practiced architecture at several Washington, D.C.-area firms. Her past clients include the University of Maryland and the National Rehabilitation Hospital. She also designed a state-of-the-art Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center, in Baltimore.
Rhena holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Architecture from The Catholic University of America.
Sumaya has been providing professional interior design, document preparation and project management services to our clients for more than six years. She has years of experience designing spaces that range from large-scale corporate settings to intimate tenant interiors.
Sumaya has worked with a variety of financial, retail and restaurant clients at The Heiserman Group, including TD Ameritrade, Mayorga Coffee Roasters and Panera Bread restaurants.
Previously, Sumaya was an intern and interior designer for an international architecture and engineering firm. Her past clients include the Architect of the Capitol and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Sumaya earned a Bachelor of Arts in interior design from Marymount University in Arlington, Va., before beginning her design career.
Tarren brings more than seven years of professional experience to The Heiserman Group and specializes in AutoCAD®. She provides professional and efficient drafting services to a variety of projects. Tarren is capable of working on many different types of projects, but much of her work focuses on salons. Her portfolio at THG includes work for clients such as Hair Cuttery, Bubbles salons, Salon Plaza, Panda Express and The Business Center at Prince George’s Plaza.
Before joining the firm, Tarren designed Web sites for major home builders in Texas and studied Computer Aided Design drafting at the University of Houston.
Katie joined The Heiserman Group in early 2008 and quickly became a valuable member of our team. She brings enthusiasm and ability to her both her production, design and project management assignments. Since joining The Heiserman Group, Katie has participated in all aspects of an array of TDAmeritrade projects. Prior to joining The Heiserman Group, Katie worked as an interior designer/draftsperson on high-end, custom homes for an architect in upstate New York.
Katie earned her Bachelor of Design degree from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.
